FAQ

Q: Why is my session in Logic always closing 10 seconds after opening it?
A: Please start the playback in Logic before starting the session. By that initially data is being transferred to the server, otherwise the session is being closed within 10 seconds. After the initial playback a further stop should not close the session. We are looking for a better solution for this issue.

Q: Should I use a brickwall limiter to prevent exceeding 0 dBFS?
A: Yes it's always better to use a brickwall limiter before Studio Gate unless you really know that the audio you're streaming does not have samples exceeding 0 dBFS

Q: Where do I have to place the plugin files on macOS?
A: On macOs the following folders are used:
- AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
- VST3: /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3
- AAX: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins

Q: Where do I have to place the plugin files on Windows?
A: On Windows the following folders are used:
- VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
- AAX: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

Q: Which samplerates are supported?
A: FLAC supports samplerates up to 96kHz, while Vorbis can theoretically can do samplerates up to 192kHz, in our tests Vorbis worked only up to 48kHz amd crashed with higher rates. Samplerates over 48kHz for FLAC will need a very good internet connection (Upload > 3 mbit/sec). Perhaps I will implement a downsampling in the sender unit.

Q: Why do I sometimes hear crackle and dropouts?
A: There are two main reasons for that - the first one is a weak internet connection on one of the both sides. You can try to work with a larger buffer on the receiver. The second reason is resampling: If you have different values under SR-Session and SR-Interface the Studio-Gate-Receiver will do a resampling of the audio data on the fly - this can lead to a lower audio quality and sometimes to some kind of crackle.
